Odd the way Chretien recalls these events, his government wrote a letter accussing Mulroney of taking a bribe, but somehow its the RCMP's fault. Its also odd that during that same interview Chretien feels an inquiry is the wrong way to go. Wonder what it is he's got to hide? Or is it that he wants to avoid going on the stand and being cross examined by Mulroney's lawyers?
Second:"A Taliban commander in the district, reached by telephone, dismissed the government toll as lies but acknowledged that his men had suffered casualties."
Could we ask that if the G&M has information on the location of Taliban (such as a phone number that can be traced) that they reveal same to the people fighting them.
Its a bit troubling to say the least that unnamed Taliban are able to get quoted by a major daily down playing our success in the field. Guess the Globe and Mail didn't get the memo that these guys are the enemy.

The Red Star just can't help it if its a liberal shrill
They publish a story with this byline
Elections Canada probing Tory advertising scheme that claimed rebates for `in and out' transactionsThe part that derails this story is this quote.
"All federal political parties depend on this rebate to help finance the next election."
All parties do this. If the CPC is guilty so to are all the others.
BTW Elections Canada, I you don't seem to be too actively pursuing the guitly party over the tax payer dollars embezzled to fund more than one liberal election campaign in Quebec.
You might want to be careful lest someone find the smoking gun or a pidgeon ready to squeal.

Looking for info
None of these stories are true unless someone can validate them.
What I'm looking for is information:
On a developing story that there is some rancour in the CTV newroom over who is going to be replacing Robertson when he retires. Present status lie, everyone knows Lloyd has no intention of retiring.
That the CBC is looking to split the lead anchor of the National so that Mansbridge has to share it with someone that is bi-lingual or female. Present status lie.
That the Star is going to be axing some of its employees to stop the flow of red ink. Present status lie.
That the Globe and Mail is being looked at as the next Rupert Murdoch (sp?) acquisition. Present status lie.
These will be updated as infomation becomes available, or if its possible to take them to an absurd level to create some satire.
Any enterprising individuals that want to run with them be my guest.

In light of recent events
Namely these.
First was President Bush's success in getting through to the cut and run crowd that
he will not hold the military to a political timetable.
Second, to PM Harper who made it clear to the media that
the mission in Afghanistan isn't about photo ops its the right thing to do.
To the Lebanese government.
That has made it clear to the terrorists that they have only two options.To Charles Adler,
who was able to strip away a major pollsters thin veneer of legitamacy by revealing the pollsters bias.
To the media that has decided not to drink the koolaid and
start questioning the folks that plead poverty.I think these lyrics are a best reflection of these events.

Media bais
There was one statement that stood out as blatant hypocracy in this
article.
"(Politicians) who talk to us should know that what they're saying will be used by media people," said Richard Brennan, gallery president and a reporter for the Toronto Star. "They should know that it is not going to be used against them in an attack ad."
Really?
Is this the same Toronto Star that has in the past written some extremely negative articles about Mr Harper? And is this not the same press gallery president that has insisted that gallery reporters sign his list and not the PM's if they want to ask a question during meetings with the PM?
That or its just sour grapes.
